Transgender Montana Rep Sues over removal from House Floor

It's funny. I never cared about who was or wasn't transgender my whole life. Really, until wacko Republicans decided to make it a part of their culture war, most people probably didn't care either. Mz Zephyr was elected, was silenced by Republicans when she wanted to speak out about their bigoted view of transgender laws. You can read the particulars at the lawsuit link below. Have to ask, why the fool does it take a lawsuit to fight against the bigotry of Republicans? Anyway, here is

So.. Granbury in Hood County is still a huge bigoted place... School Library Book Bans

I had quite forgotten that the Republican kooks in Granbury are  bigots. 7 years ago Hood County bigots tried to get LGBTQ books removed from the public library; they were stopped because there were more sensible Americans fighting this.  This last couple of years  Texas Legislaor Matt Krause took up the Bigot torch. From 2021   These intrusive christians should be told to MYOB instead of doing the UnAmerican activity of banning books. And, as Christopher Tackett,

Under this proposed Texas law, would children who dont want to participate in prayer or Bible readings or religious texts have to leave the classroom?

Read this bill and tell me if this isn't one of the stupidest bills the Texas Lege has come up with yet.  Maybe it's written for ignorant Texans that don't know nothing stops any kid from reading the Bible or praying as long as they aren't disrupting class and paying attention during instructional time. They can pray before school, at lunch, etc. Nobody stops 'em. They can even bring a Bible into school, just like any kid can bring in a so-called Banned Book to read. If it makes a child feel bet

The Problem with the Texas Lege trying to turn public classrooms into mini-churches is that...

Update: the bill that would have required Texas public schools to display the 10 Commandments in every classroom has failed. Good. Shows that Republicans are not serious people but just want to rile up ignorant people who don't understand separation of church and state 1. Not everyone is a christian. The bill to put the 10 commandments in every school, in every classroom, is nonsense.DMN 2. Not everyone wants their children to be indoctrinated by fairy tales 3. What they want to

Republicans in the Texas Legislature Fixing to Steal Texas citizens votes

They must be pretty afraid they cannot win if they don't try some voter suppression but having the Secretary of State take over elections is beyond the pale. ehttps://www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/texas-senate-passes-bill-to-seize-control-of-elections-from-local-authorities/ (cough cough Harris County) and appointing somebody else to oversee the vote is STEALING VOTES. Maybe they should wait to do this until the Dominion lawsuit is over since it shows Fox News duped people over the vote.

What are the 4 Government Investigations against Trump? (2023)

PBS Trump has been indicated on felony charges for the one in New York re: hiding payments about Stormy Daniels. The NY Attorney General has a civil lawsuit against Trump re: lying about assets-Trump went in this last week to do a second deposition on that. DOJ has a special counsel to look into the classified documents he took to MarALago as well as efforts to interfere with the 2000 election. and finally Trump's efforts in Georgia to overturn the election (The Fulton County DA has until M

Dominion Lawsuit defamation trial against Fox News about its voting machines coming up on Monday (4/17)

Unfortunately the trial will not be available to watch, but boy this should be all over the news for awhile (hah, maybe not on Fox News since theyr'e the ones being sued. What is this about?   Fox News knew that what they were putting on the air about Dominion was a lie and includes Hannity, Carlson and Bartalova saying the lies.   What was pretty amusing in the court documents is email from Tucker Carson that says, of Trump "I hate him passionately" -hah The Judg

Why are some Republican-controlled states using Vigilantism with Citizen Bounties as a way to skirt law and order?

When Texas, with SB8,, passed before SCOTUS overturned Roe v Wade, decided to make it so that citizens of the state could snoop on women having abortions and sue the providers in civil court, all while Texas government pretends to have nothing to do with it except codify that odious behaviour into law, I wondered what SCOTUS would do about it. After all, people who just want money through a lawsuit don't even necessarily have *standing* against the person getting an abortion, they're just greedy

What is WRONG with Republicans? Everyone needs to talk about why Republicans want to be all in women's business about Abortion.

If it is based on someone's particular religious beliefs, guess what. The United States is not based on a particular religion being a state religion that everyone must agree with and follow.  That includes christianity. If a particular religion believes that women must be submissive to men, that does not mean all women everywhere have to respect that belief and follow it. What is absolutely reprehensible is that most Republicans in these states that are banning abortion consider the fe

Places I will never visit on vacay due to pro-death, anti-Democracy Republican bigots, kooks and christo-fascists

Category 1: States that do not recognize that women are full citizens with the right to control their own health care, with govt staying out of their business. I was a full citizen of the United States with the right to privacy about decisions regarding having children, but it turns out not only that certain members of the Supreme Court are confederacy-loving idiots, but also the Republican party wants to relegate women to second class. That may fly for authoritarian religious nuts but not for t

Crawling out after a year of pandemic hiding

In February of last year, I got a call from my sister that my mom had landed in the hospital. And that the doctor told her that she might die within the next week. My entire family marshalled up flight plans and hotels and headed to where mom was seriously ill. Covid was around then but only just beginning to be spoken of. On flights home, all of us going to our various locations were cautious, one member wore a bandana around his face, and I remember being highly aware of a man coughing his hea
